Kathleen Nathan spent two years observing and photographing the Williamsburgh Savings Bank Building from her Brooklyn apartment, capturing the changing light and reflections on its surface. Her work, inspired by themes of transparency and reflection, combines literal images of her surroundings with a sense of solitude and melancholy, reminiscent of Edward Hopper's paintings.
This series of photographs was made in Rozie’s home during the time of still and quiet just after my dear friend passed. These images capture her essence and spirit where presence lingered.
Each summer for the past 12 years I have returned to my native upstate New York to wander along the roadways and photograph the relics of a time past, a history at risk of being erased, and the unique and sometimes poignant sense of place.
